Idle Words

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

(Matthew 12:36)

This verse concerns two points:

1) That the Idle words refer to claims of righteousness which did not exist (for our time as well)

2) The account would/will be given at the Great White Throne Judgment

I am sure none of us who have any idea of it or those who do not, will desire to be present at the Great White Throne Judgment.

We have no righteousness except to say that we are covered by and in the Blood of Christ and Christ in effect is our righteousness as the Father can accept nothing less than us covered by the Blood of the Spotless Lamb

What do we claim when we speak what do we actually say when we speak? Is our conversation based on God's Word and Truth as well as Historically correct or Are we making claims of righteousness of our own making or discovery based on another's statements although never having tested or proven the theories or ponderings?

What happens really when we do these things, are we bringing the Father Joy and pleasure? Are we being good stewards of our words and opportunities to make a difference in the life of another or do we just speak out of the hole in our face and say what we think makes us look good and or smart?

There are many questions that I could suggest and I could go much further in the mentioning of words, idle tongues and righteousness but I feel I would like to stop here and end this brief article this way:

When we make claims, statements, and or base beliefs and lives on unproven, unstudied findings we make a mockery of God who we are trying o serve and we also make a fool of ourselves. When we speak we should do so out of much prayer, much study and do it all with provable facts and points that cannot be shaken by those who are learned or who are learning. Mistakes do happen as we are all human and fragile However when one makes points based on their own likes or dislikes and not based of careful preparation that's when we start to speak idle words that we will have to give account for for it is then that we start to hold the souls of men in our hands and not in our heart.
