Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
(1 Chronicles 16:8 KJV)
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
(Psalms 105:1 KJV)
As you can see I have drawn your attention to the statement “make known His deeds among the people"
We see and talk to people every day – whether by text messages, e-mail, phone or in person. Conversations range from Sports to weather and from politics to family as well as work, food, clothing and hobbies.
In all of this, how many times do you meet someone who is enthusiastic about Jesus?
They howl over hockey and who is this or that – work, weather and all sorts of things get and obtain long drawn out conversations that can last from 10 minutes to an hour if people have the time and are allowed to carry on….have you ever noticed though that people seem scared to talk about the very thing that is the single greatest event, person and happening of all time; Jesus!
He gave us life, breath to breathe, died on the cross to make us free… He hanged there naked and defecated and urinated from that cross, He was “bruised" from head to toe, as Scripture bares out, His total body was one big bruise, His head was swollen twice the normal size as the 2 inch long thorns had been driven into his skull – The poison on the thorns causes almost immediately a rash that would have a severe burning sensation, eyes swollen, lips parched, dry and cracked….nails in His wrists and in His feet. Scripture again proves out that He was so disfigured He was hardly recognizable as a man.
All this and more – and yet people get “tired" or think others are “fanatics" for talking about or witnessing on the facts of Jesus and who He was and is. If people stop and think, He has blessed them in many ways, do you not realize that the very breath you have is actually His? Without Him you would be in hell right now as the Judgment of God would have longed consumed you by now. His Grace and MERCY IS ALL THAT HAS KEPT THIS WORLD GOING, He awaits yet another soul to come to the Kingdom and yet so may want the benefits of His cross which is the New covenant, yet they do not want to speak about Him other than in church or maybe in a song where He is obscurely mentioned in passing.
YES! We are allowed to have hobbies, have fun and talk about sports, fishing, hunting or whatever the case as long as it does not cross over into foul areas and become that which is not pleasing to the lord.
Yet and still as I watch people who are and claim to be Christians squirm or watch their countenance change as Jesus is mentioned, that name should make you smile bigger than anything this poor world has to offer. People mention God all the time and even though they are one in and the same the name of Jesus is the name above all names, Jesus’ name makes demons tremble and hell shake like a weak leaf in a strong wind.
When is the last time you gave thanks to the Lord, called on His name without asking for anything for yourself, when is the last time you made known His deeds among the people.?
Do you ever witness with your mouth as the heart speaks from the abundance of His Word and His Joy?
Do you live a stoic and Humdrum Christian life…and yet have quite the energy and life when it comes to all else?
You know – Christians would have more joy and be happier if they had prayer lives that lasted longer than 5 minutes and were all about “gimme, gimme, gimme" - - I’ll take, I’ll take, I’ll Take ….. Do something for Jesus instead of always expecting Him to do everything for you….hasn’t He done enough already?
